IPD Committee
The Tucson Indigneous Peoples’ Day Committee is a collective of individuals who represent various Arizona organizations, including the Alianza Indigena Sin Fronteras, Yoeme Commission on Human Rights, Tonatierra, Alliance for Global Justice, Gloo Factory, Tucson Peace Center, Pima Arts Council, and Sustainable Nations. We have come together around the vision of establishing Indigneous Peoples’ Day on the second Monday in October throughout Arizona; this vision includes Indigenous tribes, cities, and counties throughout Arizona.
See below for a link to the sign-on letter, the proposed legislation, organizational supporters, and a list of cities and tribal nations who have already established Indigenous Peoples’ Day in their districts, cities, and counties.
2) If you are part of an organization that would like to support these efforts, please send a letter of support on organizational letterhead to alianzaindigena@gmail.com. Unless otherwise requested, your organization’s letter will be added to this webpage.
3) Help us spread the word! Share the link to the sign-on letter to your social media, invite your friends to join our efforts, and encourage organizations you are part of to add their names in support.
If you or your organization would like to help sponsor the 2019 Tucson Indigenous Peoples’ Day Campaign, please click the link above. Sponsorship fees will be used for the IPD celebration and ongoing campaign to establish Indigenous Peoples’ Day in Tucson, Arizona and beyond.
